“Great news for Australian Electricity retailers.. deferral of network charges.

The recent National Electricity Amendment (Deferral of network charges) Rule 2020 No. 11 (“the Rule Change”) includes a mandatory requirement for retailers to report a discrete set of data about the deferral of network changes.
The AEMC made the rule change to allow eligible retailers to defer the payment of network charges to DNSPs incurred between 6 August 2020 and 6 February 2021 for residential and small business customers on a payment plan, hardship arrangement or deferred debt arrangement. These payments may be deferred for a period of six months.

This is good news as for a period the Retailers were the one left holding the can. This new change means the network providers will also carry the burden of hardship impacted customers.”
