A self-professed ‘code geek’, Rinco Sum has worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Utilibill for seven years, using his love of problem solving to find out-of-the-box solutions that benefit systems and customers.
With strong software engineering being an integral part of Utilibill’s operations, Rinco’s wealth of experience has been an invaluable asset to the company. After studying a bachelor degree in computer science, Rinco worked as a software consultant for several years, taking on projects with governments and the utility, logistics, and banking and finance industries.
Applying this experience to his role at Utilibill, Rinco now enjoys the opportunity to work on the company’s software design, as well as the implementation of this design on integration between Utilibill’s platform and other systems, such as those belonging to banks, telecommunications providers and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).
With Utilibill’s cloud computing services offering invaluable benefits to utilities, including reduced costs, data security and improved productivity, it’s an exciting time to be a part of the Utilibill team. Rinco is excited about what digital transformation could mean for utility companies, both now and in the future.
“It will make utility companies more efficient in their automated processes, and provide a more customer-centric user experience, as well as delivering speed and simplicity while remaining secure and accessible,” Rinco said.
“Big data is another huge opportunity impacting utility companies.”
Outside of work, Rinco loves to play tennis and is a keen online gamer.
